In Rietlanden, in het past a marshy place, all kinds of traffic come together: the almost 2 km long Piet Hein Tunnel, a new road to the centre, a new express tram. Despite these bad conditions Ton Schaap, urban designer of the city of Amsterdam, made an exciting district.

He designed in this area a park – the only one of the district. And he contracted architects who created blocks that refer to the harbour past, not just unpleasant and taut boxes.
